Kaçaniku as an administrative center - the town dates back to the end of the XVI century, which until 1891 was najaji of Sandzak of Skopje, in Vilajet of Kosovo. The first founder of this town is Koxha Sinan Pasha who built the mosque which still exists today, a public kitchen (imaret), a school near the mosque, two hani, a hammam, a castle and some mills on the Lepec River.
Kaçanik is distinguished by favorable topographic and climatic conditions. Through the gorge of Kacanik, Mediterranean climate is penetrating; From the east and west penetrates the typical mountain climate, while the northern side feels the influence of the continental climate.
Through Kaçanik there are two rivers, the Lepec and Nerodime River, which, by joining them in the city, pass along the picturesque Kaçanik gorge with the whole of Kosovo's mezoulevels, from whose lips rises the rugged mountains belonging to the massifs of Sharr and Rodopet.
Cultural-historical monuments The cultural and historical monuments provide a wealth of tourism resources in the municipality of Kaçanik. The castle built at the end of the XVI century (in 1595), in the center of the city, is a precious event that is tangled by the two rivers, Lepeci and Nerodimja, before their joining the city. Motel "Fortress", built almost on the foundations of the castle, currently does not conduct hotel activity (there are still some families sheltered), presents an attractive complex for visitors. Among the old cultural monuments that remain today is the Kaçanik Mosque built by the great Vizier Koxha Sinan Pasha in 1594. The Martyrs' Cemetery, Te Dardha, and many commemorative plaques and monuments in different localities of our municipality belong to the postwar period and represent the abundant cultural and historical potentials of our municipality.
